MWVG - Woodland Task

(10:00 - November 17th, 2013)

For our last task of he year we'll stay in the heathand area and tackle any areas that haven't been cleared of birch saplings - this is a really essential task to help maintain the heathland area and all the species that call it home.

Bubble and Tweet

There's an unusual sound in the woodland at this time of year - but if you listen carefully you'll hear what sounds like a bird 'blowing bubbles'.

This is the song of the Nuthatch a sweet little bird with a peachy coloured breast which blends beautifully with its brown colouring.

You may also be lucky enough to see a Nuthatch in your own garden - it's fascinating to see them busy searching for food as they have a tendency to work their way down tree trunks head first.
