MWVG - Woodland Task

(10:00 - September 15th, 2013)

We're going to be resuming our great work in clearing birch saplings from the heathland area - some larger saplings will require a bow saw or loppers but these will be provided on the day.

Bubble and Tweet

There's an unusual sound in the woodland at this time of year - but if you listen carefully you'll hear what sounds like a bird 'blowing bubbles'.

This is the song of the Nuthatch a sweet little bird with a peachy coloured breast which blends beautifully with its brown colouring.

You may also be lucky enough to see a Nuthatch in your own garden - it's fascinating to see them busy searching for food as they have a tendency to work their way down tree trunks head first.
